Introduction
The customer is a popular Gujarat-based textile mill known for its detailed fabric processing, dyeing and printing systems. After emerging as one of the finest mills locally in the early 1990s, the company went on to expand its operations internationally. It is known for its competitive pricing and short time-to-market.
Business Challenges
To consistently maintain timely delivery of products to its customers, the organisation needed effective management of its fleet of six vehicles, transporting textiles through the city and nearby places.
There was no way of tracking these carriers in real-time once they left the mill. The company wanted to get alerts when each vehicle picked up the consignment and dropped it at the designated location. It also needed to check the total distance travelled by each vehicle during the day and ensure that it matched with the drivers’ manual reports.
Instead of checking with the driver for the vehicle’s where abouts, the customer sought a non-intrusive and reliable tech-enabled tracking system.
TTBS Solution
Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS) offered its fleet tracking solution to the textile company. A widely used IoT solution, the TTBS fleet management tool deploys GPS technology to provide real-time information one ach vehicle.
The sensors integrated with in trucks and vans kept the transport manager updated on the distance travelled by their fleet and the fuel consumed by each vehicle. All the data was received on a user-friendly and secure web portal. The fleet management system’s geofencing feature also alerted the supervisors when ever any vehicle came in to or left a particular area.
