A Building Design Enterprise Upgrades its Communication Setup with PRI Lines and Smart Internet


Introduction

Our customer for this project is a design support company providing architecture, building information modelling (BIM), computer aided design (CAD), engineering, and construction services for residential and commercial structures. Supported by a team of experienced civil engineers, interior designers, draftsmen, and visualisers, it is committed to on-specification and on-time completion of projects.

The company has its main production centre in India and its global presence extends from United Kingdom to the US and Australia. With strong policies for legal compliance, HR, data security, and client IP protection, it is ISO 9001:2015 QMS accredited. It is also a member of the Autodesk Developer Network and provides training for AutoCAD and Revit software at its Autodesk Training Centre.

Business Challenge

  • Weak telecommunication setup – The deteriorated voice call quality due to aging infrastructure for telephony affected team collaboration.
  • Problems in scaling - If the call handling capacity was to be enhanced, the company was required to get multiple lines deployed, resulting in more complex network and increased maintenance charges.
  • Poor internet connectivity – With vanilla broadband connection, the workforce could not use cloud applications and other digital tools efficiently.
  • Ineffective cybersecurity – The broadband data service came without provisions for safety from cyber threats and this was a major concern for a business that routinely used online platforms.

TTBS Solution

The organisation approached Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS) for enterprise-grade telecommunication and online connectivity solutions. To fit in their requirements, we offered our Primary Rate Interface (PRI) for voice calls and internet leased line service - called Smart Internet - for online connectivity.

Our solution architects deployed the PRI lines using the existing telephony infrastructure. Based on multiplexing and demultiplexing methodologies, there were 30 channels on every single link which made it easier to handle several calls simultaneously.

To set up a dedicated internet connection with uncontended bandwidth, we set up 35 Smart Internet lines for the company’s office. IT administrators had access to a portal that gave them round-the-clock access to network performance.

The key highlights of our solution were:

  • The deployment of PRI lines did not require the organisation to invest in multiple analogue lines that would have created a complicated and unreliable setup.
  • Besides providing an evolved voice solution, the PRI connectivity could also be used for video conferencing.
  • Our ILL service Smart Internet provided 1:1 symmetric and high download - upload speeds for smooth usage of cloud apps.
  • Smart Internet also had built-in features for zero-day protection from online threats which was much appreciated by the customer.
