A Successful IT Company Combines Smart VPN, IZO Private Cloud and SIP Trunk to Boost Productivity


Introduction

Based in Bengaluru, the company provides Information Technology (IT) services for website and application designing, building of other multimedia assets, software testing, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calling and call patching.

The lean, secure, agile and outcome-oriented solutions offered by the enterprise have enabled the company to win esteemed clients from different industries. It helps them maximise their productivity with streamlined IT processes and custom digital tools.

As it was using several Cloud computing solutions including Amazon Web Services (AWS) applications in its daily workflows, the company needed a more secure medium than basic internet service to connect to the Cloud.

It contacted Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS) to get a private networking connection for Cloud services. Our experience in building private networks for enterprises and securing Cloud connectivity through any wired or wireless internet source prompted the company leadership to choose us for the task.

Business Challenges

The enterprise routinely used Cloud platforms to build and customise its solutions by providing myriad IT and digital services. However, as the number of projects handled increased, it realised a need for a more efficient network. High availability and reliable security were the top prerequisites in this case.

In addition to a Virtual Private Network (VPN), the company was keen on installing Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunk channels for voice calls. It preferred to have both services from the same vendor.

The key expectations from the digital networking and telecom services were:

  • Dedicated access with private connectivity to AWS and other major Cloud service providers
  • Simple, cost-effective and scalable network infrastructure where the bandwidth could be increased when necessary
  • SIP trunk channels with one pilot number and the capability to handle multiple calls simultaneously

The company wanted a solution with a Service-Level Agreement (SLA) that guarantees network uptime. The company also preferred a unified billing service for all the SIP channels.

TTBS Solution

Our solution architects deployed the TTBS Smart VPN and Tata Communications IZO™ Private Cloud solution to build a private network for the company.

With Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS), Secure Connect and Internet VPN elements, Smart VPN enabled the users to privately connect to its Cloud service providers. The network between the workplace and the Cloud platforms was segregated from the vagaries of public internet services.

The IZO™ Private Cloud integrated disparate IT environments for a highperformance and more secure Cloud application experience. This single orchestration platform is VMware certified, building a robust infrastructure for a company that used advanced applications and Cloud services in its daily work processes.

TTBS then set up its SIP Trunk solution with 2,000 channels for the company. The number of channels could be increased in multiples of 10. Also, the voice calls received on SIP phones could be automatically routed to mobile phones if the primary link was affected by an outage for a few minutes.

The configuration of Smart VPN, IZO™ Private Cloud and SIP Trunk was up to the company’s expectations and provided better services than they had perceived:

  • The combination of MPLS-based Smart VPN and IZO™ Private Cloud built a secure path to AWS, allowing the employees to use mission-critical applications with greater efficiency and security.
  • Smart VPN built a high-performing network with simple infrastructure and bandwidth scalability up to 500 Megabytes per Second (MBPS).
  • The network also provided visibility into performance statistics and the facility of centralised management.
  • The company now had a single link to manage simultaneous inbound and outbound SIP calls along with a single pilot number for customers to contact the team.

All the services were provided with an end-to-end SLA guaranteeing network availability of more than 99%. The quick meantime-to-resolve any concern was also documented in the SLA. On-call support from TTBS is available round-the-clock.

We provided the customer with high-quality services for MPLS, secure connect to Cloud and SIP trunk voice channels, which they always wanted from a single vendor. The customer also appreciated the uptime responsiveness to queries.
