Analytical Instrument Supplier Links Work Sites on a Secure and Private Network Using MPLS VPN
Introduction
Founded in 1982, the company comprises a group of engineers, technocrats, and professionals who discerned the need for good quality analytical instrumentations in India. It went on to become a key supplier of such products in a range of verticals including, biotechnology and life sciences, material science, scientific imaging, and petroleum testing.
Handling manufacturing, sales, marketing, service, and support operations for industrial analytical gear and healthcare equipment, the organisation is committed to meeting its quality parameters and project deadlines to the satisfaction of its customers.
The company has multiple offices across India that collaborate officially. It required a private network, that would connect all these locations, and ensure they could access the common data centre securely.
For building a high-speed Virtual Private Network (VPN) for data, voice, video, and enterprise applications, the management approached Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS). Business Challenges

TTBS Solution
MPLS is a part of the Smart VPN solution offered by TTBS which was deployed to connect all the organisation’s offices across various locations using any-to-any topology. The solution architects established static routing at all locations – the advantage being, there is only a minimal load on the router’s CPU.
We configured the internet service at the central location and distributed it to all other branches over MPLS. With sophisticated data encryption protocol, we also added end-to-end security in the VPN that connected the different locations. The teams from various work sites could now communicate effectively and exchange information without exposing data packets to the risks of public internet services.
The deployment of MPLS VPN with meshed design and its ability to recover swiftly from an error improved the uptime significantly. It also addressed other concerns:
- The employees now had a high-speed connection and could use voice, video, and other data-consuming apps more efficiently than before.
- IT administrators could prioritise traffic in peak hours to nurture high productivity on this managed network.
- MPLS enabled a scalable VPN architecture on which the company could add thousands of new sites and keep them securely connected.
