Introduction

The organisation is a conglomerate with ventures diversified into domains of manufacturing, future factory solutions, and education. It started its journey in 1972 with production of bicycle parts and has consistently grown since then by designing and manufacturing innovative equipment for two-wheelers and cars. Control cables, parking brake cables, windscreen wipers, and transmission systems are now the key automotive product lines of this globally renowned OEM.

The future factory solutions offered by the organisation come with Industry 4.0 technologies to digitally transform traditional manufacturing environments for more autonomous operations and data-based decision-making.

In the field of education, the company has launched e-learning portals with skill development courses for students up to K12 level and beyond. The programs are customised to equip leaners with the abilities they need to succeed in a fast-paced world. It has also established day care centres for children in different age groups.

Business Challenge

  • Operational issues – The company’s IT environment was largely on-prem because of which it had to frequently deal with hardware maintenance, patch management, and operating system management complexities.
  • Cost concerns – To pay the software-hardware license costs, power bills for heterogenous systems, and bear the maintenance expenses, the organisation also needed more funds, and if the problems were not resolved in time, it led to downtime costs.
  • Vendor management apprehensions - Even though it had limited in-house resources to administer the IT environment, the company was not keen on outsourcing the responsibilities to local vendors who lacked the skills it needed for reliable infrastructure management.
  • Need for round-the-clock support – To seamless operations and high productivity for all business units, the company was looking for a cloud service provider that could provide high uptime and 24/7 assistance against any IT issue.

TTBS Solution

the company approached Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS) for a scalable and cost-effective solution to IT infrastructure management, we offered them the IZO™ Private Cloud, a platform developed by our partner enterprise Tata Communications.

Our solution architects analysed the state of the existing infrastructure and made a note of all the operating systems, applications, databases, and other business IT assets that had to be moved the cloud. They shared bills of quantities (BoQ) for the project with the organisation. The lift-and-shift migration process was also smooth and without any loopholes.

With its comprehensive understanding of SAP HANA applications, the TTBS team ensured that they run seamlessly on IZO™ Private Cloud and help the company maximise the returns from its SAP investments.

The movement to cloud enabled the organisation to improve its IT capabilities and resolved the problems it experienced with the legacy setup:

  • Cloud infrastructure facilitated on-demand access to virtualized computing resources and helped business units to function more efficiently with secure systems managed by TTBS.
  • The pay-per-use model of IZO™ Private Cloud infrastructure materialised cost savings when compared with on-premises architectures for which hardware and software licenses had to be purchased up front to accommodate maximum business needs, even if that level of need was rarely reached.
  • With migration to a private cloud the company could also save more on power bills and because a qualified team at TTBS managed the platform maintenance, the concern of downtime and management by multiple vendors was addressed.
  • TTBS has provided a service level agreement (SLA) based solution to the organisation under which we maintain 99.5% uptime and offer round-the-clock support for productive business operations.
