An international governing body based in New Delhi, the organisation is the United Kingdom’s chief diplomatic mission for consular services in Northern India. It caters to the union territory (UT) of Delhi and the states of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. The organisation also provides services to British nationals living in and visiting India.
The UK’s close partnership with India aims to maximise trade investment, boost employment and improve economic prosperity in both countries. To such ends, the organisation strengthens joint actions on issues of mutual concern and widens its access to information and technology.
In addition, it works for the UK’s global security matters. As an entity providing consular services and maintaining diplomatic relations with India, this government agency needed reliable internet connectivity to communicate with its satellite offices in different locations in India. To upgrade from the existing vanilla broadband connection, it contacted Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS) – one of the oldest and most reliable providers of telecommunication solutions in India.

Business Challenges
The diplomatic organisation had to consistently stay connected to its branch offices that were operating from different locations. There were regular exchange of emails, voice over internet protocol (VoIP) calls, video conferencing and usage of Cloud services. To use such platforms effectively, the company needed a reliable data connectivity.
The existing connectivity setup was built by multiple service providers across locations and could not meet the organisation’s requirements. A few particular aspects needed immediate attention:
- The organisation wanted to have a single service provider to fuel data connectivity for all locations, and it needed a Service-Level Agreement (SLA)- based solution to ensure that these offices always received an optimal level and quality of service.
Issues such as slow speed and excessive latency were spoiling the user experience and the security features to counter cyber threats were weak.
In case of using any internet service, the team had high priorities for security, scalability and ease of network management.
As the diplomatic bureau’s payments for vendors were made directly from the UK, it had to maintain detailed records of their bills and payment due dates for each of the multiple service providers – this was another reason why it preferred to get its data solution for all locations from a single company.
TTBS Solution
