Business Networking Enterprise Upgrades its Communication Architecture with TTBS SIP Trunk
Introduction
Udaan provides a Business-to-Business (B2B) online platform that makes online trading simple, secure and convenient for manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers. The company has built a network of more than 20,000 traders through its website and mobile app, serving small and medium-sized businesses in India.
With this portal, members can nurture their existing business relationships and extend their brand's reach into new markets. They can buy and sell products on mutually beneficial terms.
With transparent pricing, seamless payment facilities, escrow protection, and competitive logistics services, the company aims to provide engaging experiences to all buyers and sellers. It also offers real-time insights into current business trends and helps its members scale their business by leveraging digital technology.
To help businesses connect easily with their customer service team, the organisation needed a reliable telephone service. It wanted to rise above the limitations of the traditional Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) voice system by adopting a suitable technology for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).
On checking the facilities available with Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS) Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Trunk solutions, the leadership team found the option of auto-failover and the ease of scalability valuable for its operations. It also realised the solution’s cost-effectiveness and signed up for the managed SIP service from TTBS.
Business Challenge
The company needed a SIP Trunk setup with one pilot number and auto-failover facility to maintain communication even if the primary line used for IP telephony was affected by an outage. It also sought to reroute calls to employees’ mobile phones as required
Furthermore, SIP Trunk based VoIP service had to provide features that the existing PSTN infrastructure failed to offer:
- Extensive scalability potential without the need to add a physical circuit
- Ease of installation, usage and maintenance
- High Definition (HD) sound quality
By migrating to SIP Trunk architecture, the company could also integrate its data transmission with voice services and maximise the utility of a high-speed internet connection.
TTBS Solution
In line with the company’s requirements, TTBS deployed its SIP Trunk solution using two separate L3 links – these were delivered for the last mile over Ethernet with Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) ring architecture. We configured the service with one pilot number and 200 channels.
All inbound calls are routed through the primary link. If hit by an outage, the calls were automatically redirected to the alternative link to ensure that the communication pathway for customers is open. If required, the company could also redirect the calls to employees’ mobile phones.
TTBS SIP Trunk brought all the features that made the company’s investment in VoIP service worthwhile.
- A single link with TTBS SIP Trunk could handle 20 to 1,500 simultaneous calls, and the company could increase or decrease the call handling capacity without the need for a new physical connection.
- The solution was deployed over its existing communication infrastructure and enhanced its utility and operational efficiency.
- TTBS SIP Trunk unified voice and video communication with online data transmission services, making it easier for the users to address customer queries and collaborate internally with their team members.
- As the solution did not involve physical phone lines, it was easy and cost-effective to maintain.
- By digitally transforming its voice communication with SIP technology, the company also enhanced sound quality and reduced the chances of dropped calls.
TTBS continues to manage the service for the company for maximum uptime and facilitates troubleshooting within clearly defined timelines. We also have a flexible range of direct inward dialling (DID) numbers to support the SIP solution’s scalability whenever required.
With TTBS SIP Trunk, the client was able to handle large call volumes easily with superior voice quality. The redundancy benefit helped them to keep business communication alive consistently.
