Innovative pharma company improves network performance using TTBS MPLS mesh connectivity
Introduction
Founded in 1994, the organisation is a technology-driven pharmaceutical company specialising in pain and addiction management. Its product range of pain relief and de-addiction medicines are marketed in multiple countries, including the UK, Russia, South Africa, Nepal, Mauritius, and Myanmar. The company’s manufacturing facilities have also been approved by a number of global organisations such as EDQM Europe, Health Canada, WHO, and FDCA – India.
Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS) got an opportunity to serve the organisation when it decided to upgrade its online connectivity and bring multiple office locations in India on a common network. There was a need for multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) service here. On checking the features of our Smart VPN solution, which establishes cross-geography secure MPLS connectivity for enterprises, the team asked TTBS to deploy the same for their offices.
Business Challenge
The organisation had to connect six work locations and needed 20 to 30 MBPS internet bandwidth. High-speed network and uninterrupted connectivity were critical for its daily operations as it was using several digital apps such as LIMS, ADMS, EMPVIBES, LMS, and SAP HANA.

TTBS Solution
TTBS’ Smart VPN solution offered by TTBS has three key components – MPLS VPN, Secure Connect, and Internet VPN. In this case, we deployed the standard MPLS service with Layer3 Virtual Private Network (L3VPN).
With any-to-any connectivity – the default setup for MPLS L3VPN – any router used by the customer could connect with any other router in the VPN. This facility helped bring geographically dispersed locations on a single integrated network for better collaboration and privacy in data exchange.
Deployment of MPLS to support the existing backhaul network addressed the organisation’s challenges:
- The network congestion issue was resolved with the rerouting and prioritising of traffic for various applications. Teams now had adequate bandwidth to use their apps more effectively.
- MPLS gave the flexibility for diverting and routing traffic in the event of link failures, congestion, or other bottlenecks. This brought redundancy benefits for the company.
- The solution was backed by an end-to-end SLA, under which the TTBS team ensured reliable uptime, high connectivity speed, and round-theclock support to handle any technical concern for the customer.
Implementing the MPLS solution also made the organisation’s network more scalable – we could add IP VPNs to extend the mesh connectivity in line with the business growth.
Highlight
MPLS L3VPN improved the connectivity speed and helped the organisation assign bandwidths for different applications as per priorities. The IT team could also monitor the network to check its real-time performance.
