Medall Healthcare a Leading Medical Diagnostics Chain adopts TTBS Smart Internet Solution to Optimise Digital Connectivity


Introduction

The enterprise manages the distribution of electric power to different parts of Madhya Pradesh. It follows the central government-driven reforms under the Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Program (APDRP) that was launched to improve the financial viability of state power utilities, reduction of AT&C losses, improve customer satisfaction and enhance the reliability and quality of power supply.

When the government introduced the second phase of APDRP, called the Restructured APDRP, the projects to be managed under it were segmented into two parts. One of these was about instituting baseline data and advanced IT applications for energy accounting/auditing, and some digital consumer service centres.

Tata Communications bid for one of the projects under the Restructured APDRP scheme and an important job under the same was entrusted to Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS).

We had to set up a virtual private network (VPN) using a Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technique to connect the electricity company’s dispersed offices in Madhya Pradesh. Our team had to facilitate these work centres’ access to the IT applications that were stored within a central server located in the company’s headquarters premises.

Business Challenges

The diagnostic service provider maintains its data servers at its head office and all branches – most of which were located in Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns need to stay connected to these centralised servers round-the-clock. However, the internet service used by the company was unstable and could not support the functioning of bandwidth-hungry applications effectively.

It was essential to deploy enterprise-grade connectivity and address the key business challenges:

  • Data transfer speed was slow and digital processes were impacted by considerable jitter, latency and packet loss.
  • The service did not have any particular features for security against data breach attempts and other cyber threats.
  • IT team could not effectively monitor the performance and bandwidth consumption of Cloud-based apps effectively.

The organisation also wanted to solve the problem of unpredictable downtime. And it expected SLA-backed service commitment wherein it would get seamless technical support and a Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for reporting and resolution of any issue.

TTBS Solution

TTBS conducted a thorough feasibility study before strategizing the deployment of Smart Internet for the medical diagnostic company. This managed ILL provided direct, dedicated and uncontended data service. It came with dual last mile connectivity featuring active-passive failover for uninterrupted business processes.

With Smart Internet, branches across states were seamlessly connected to the head office’s servers for access to data that was required in routine workflows. Our ILL brought custom solutions for the problems that the organisation faced:

  • Smart Internet stabilised the data service with 1:1 symmetric download and upload speed enabling the employees to run business applications smoothly, getting over the issues of undue jitter, latency and packet loss.
  • Our solution also brought best-in-class DNS security to protect online processes from malware, phishing, botnets, adware, ransomware, command and control callback over any port or protocol.
  • IT managers now had the flexibility to monitor network performance with TTBS Smart Internet’s web-based portal iManage – it enabled them to keep a check on internet usage pattern within the company and download detailed network performance reports in seconds.
  • iManage also allowed IT managers to block malicious content and websites as per their work policies.

TTBS provided its ILL service with strong uptime guaranteed by an end-to-end SLA. If the IT managers experienced any issue with the service, they could register a complaint through the iManage portal. As per the SLA, all issues get acknowledged and resolved promptly within promised timelines.
