Oriens Global a Major Healthcare Product Company Leverages Zoom to Collaborate with Distribution Partners More Effectively


Introduction

The company is a research-based ‘nutraceutical’ organisation with a unique array of health and wellness products and services. It has achieved its success in the market through intense research work to produce nutritional supplements and medicines that help patients recover quickly from illnesses and lead healthier lifestyles. It also offers personal care and home care products.

To supply its products efficiently, the company maintains a large network of distribution channels that are managed by its independent business associates (IBAs). These IBAs are the direct sellers of the organisation and are trained thoroughly for product knowledge, enterprise stock management and customer services. They are also rewarded for their performance on different parameters.

As the business grew and the number of IBAs increased, the company needed an audio-video conferencing platform to communicate more effectively with them. The platform was also required to streamline training and communicate new updates on products and services in time. While there are many online collaboration products in the market, the organisation settled upon Zoom after comparing the top-rated ones comprehensively.

Business Challenges

The company had to frequently organise trainings, workshops and product launch events for its IBAs. As the size of the team handling product distribution had increased significantly over the years, it was not feasible to organise in-person gatherings at different locations. The problem became more acute after the COVID-19 pandemic. It was, therefore, necessary to have a dedicated platform for such meetings and sessions.

In choosing an optimum enterprise-grade online communication portal for audiovideo calls, texting and data sharing, the senior management team prioritised certain features:

The platform had to be device-agnostic, allowing agents to participate in online meetings through a browser or mobile application with or without an email ID.

While some of the meetings were only between senior managers and key channel partners, others involved hundreds of participants and the video conferencing service had to be robust enough to accommodate all of them.

Once our solution architects completed the configuration of Zoom as the company’s official online application, it was ready to be used with all the features and facilities that the management team needed:

  • The in-house employees and IBAs could log into Zoom from any desktop – Windows or iOS based - and could also use its mobile application on their Android or iOS mobile device
  • Zoom was adequately elastic to include hundreds of users in any online event streaming and at least 49 of them could use their webcam simultaneously
  • Security was ensured with 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) application layer encryption for shared content and 256-bit Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption for network connection
  • Zoom meetings also included role-based user security, waiting rooms, locked meetings and domain restrictions

Besides being an easy-to-use platform with self-explanatory features for meeting management, Zoom always provides participants optimum user experiences with HD video and audio quality. The meeting organisers from the company could also share screens and conduct polls in real-time. They could record the sessions and share them with invitees who could not attend the session and the ones who needed minutes of the meeting for reference.
