Introduction
Established in 1978, the company manufactures rubber using pioneering retreading processes. It rejuvenates old, worn-out tyres to reduce the resources used in producing new units. Retreated tyres, also known as remoulded, resoled, or renewed, help save up to 16 gallons of oil in fabricating each bus or truck tyre. As an eco-friendly practice, retreading also cuts down the number of scrap casings discarded into landfills.
The company has retreaded millions of tyres in association with its vast manufacturing network across India. Besides truck-bus tyres, LCV tyres, and car tyres, it also supplies a range of allied products, including bonding cushion gum, rubber cement, and envelopes.
Cybersecurity was a concern for the organisation. In particular, they wanted to secure their email usage and stem the inflow of phishing emails and messages with malicious links or attachments. Tata Tele Business Services’ (TTBS’) Email Security solution, which counters advanced threats besides viruses and malware, carried the features the company found exigent. Following a discussion with our team, the organisation’s representatives understood the service’s simplicity and decided to deploy it for their email accounts.
Business Challenges
The company frequently used email to interact with its customers, vendors, and stakeholders, with important updates and files concerning orders, invoices, and payments.
However, the teams had no specific tool to safeguard their email usage against the common risks that typically weaken digital communication. The situation led to a number of problems:
- As the domain hosting service providers did not offer end-to-end security, the messages sent by the company were frequently channelled into the spam folders of recipients’ accounts. This not only obstructed the delivery of important messages but also affected brand reputation.
- The company also received many phishing emails and differentiating them from genuine messages was not always simple for busy employees.
- The basic antivirus programmes used across devices were unreliable. At times, they also misidentified genuine attachments as threats.
To address such challenges, the organisation needed a strong email security service that could help deliver its outgoing mail, protect business data, maintain consistent access to critical files, and provide a reasonable degree of disaster recovery support. The solution also had to be scalable in line with business growth.
TTBS Solution
TTBS configured its cloud-based Email Security solution for the customer. It was easy to set up with a simple modification of the mail exchanger records and did not interfere with the routine workflows.
Our solution is powered by FirstWave Cloud Technology’s ESP™ email software technology, Cisco-based ESA/IronPort, and Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) technologies recognised by Gartner, IDC, & Radicati.
The installation of Email Security improved risk management and removed the hurdles the teams had faced earlier:
- Email Security came with Domain Keys Identified Mail (DKIM) signatures to prevent the tampering of the company’s outgoing messages, and it helped direct business mails to inboxes instead of junk folders.
- The phishing, spear-phishing, and other spoofing messages were blocked effectively. With its typo domain filters, the solution also protected users from the dangers of typo-squatting.
- TTBS Email Security brought advanced detection abilities, allowing the customer’s teams to use their authentic and safe files more smoothly.
In addition to security against complex threats, Email Security offered role-based controls for ease of content management. The solution also came with assured disaster recovery and 32 days’ trace replay.
TTBS Email Security maintains 100% uptime as it is underpinned by a redundant and fault-tolerant infrastructure.
TTBS Email Security helped the client protect their network from the threats sent via unsolicited emails. It is a well-structured security program and enables client workforce to focus more on core operational priorities, instead of running antivirus scans every week to ensure device safety.
