The organisation is an Odisha-based integrated steel company holding ISO 9001:2008 & TS-16949 certification for quality standards and ISO 14001:2004 for environment management standards.
It has commissioned a greenfield steel and power plant with 3.5 million tonnes per annum (TPA) production – the first in the state and the private sector. The underpinning technology and equipment were sourced from leading global companies. The enterprise also maintains a vast marketing network in India and other countries for the worldwide sale of its products.
To connect its multiple office sites with a central location, the company needed a reliable network infrastructure. It trusted Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS), considering our unmatched service coverage and strong presence in more than 60 cities in India.
Business Challenges
The customer needed scalable and cost-effective connectivity between all their work locations with the hub at Jharsuguda. It had to be a high-speed network managed by a single service provider to ensure the ease of data transmission between teams.
Other key points to be incorporated while deploying the service were:
- Private connectivity that would link dispersed sites within a secure network and prevent traffic from getting exposed to public internet services

Scalable bandwidth was a requisite for supporting applications that consume data heavily. The customer also preferred simple tools to monitor and manage service performance. Such expectations were aligned with industry standards for business communication systems and had to be fulfilled to build a futureready network.
TTBS Solution
TTBS deployed its Smart VPN solution to engineer an MPLSbased network for the customer. It was further integrated with Hub Connect, a leased line product in our portfolio that builds unique point-to-multipoint connectivity solutions for businesses.
- Smart VPN’s MPLS pillar enabled the organisation to define routes for data packets and prioritise business traffic for a high quality of service (QoS).
- With Hub Connect, the users got a direct, secure, and scalable channel that connected their multiple offices with the Jharsuguda hub. It also gave them a privatised connection to public cloud services such as AWS, Google, Azure, and IBM.
- While setting up hub configuration on the high-performing MPLS system, our technicians also added a failover option created via an Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) tunnel. This enhanced network uptime.
Proactive monitoring and real-time network performance reports, in addition to the enhanced security of VPN, delivered an enterprise-grade service for the customer. They had the flexibility to keep different locations connected on a private network through which employees could transmit data without the apprehension of cyber threats.
