TTBS Smart Internet Upgrades Data Service for an Education Service Facilitator with Better Speed and Security

An established player in the education sector, the enterprise helps students with admissions to prestigious educational institutions worldwide. It has been operating in the field for over 50 years and has a strategic network of international student placement centres in more than 30 countries.

Students and parents who sign up for the organisation’s services get full support and guidance for the entire process – these include university/college and academic course selection, application submission, visa application assistance and pre-departure preparations.

The management team was not satisfied with the broadband-based data service it had been using and decided to upgrade to an internet leased line (ILL) solution. With the increasing use of Cloud applications, there was a need for an uncontended service with faster upload speeds.

Tata Tele Business Services (TTBS) is a well-known telecom solutions provider for public and private companies in India. Our Internet Leased Line (ILL) service, Smart Internet, comes with thoughtfully designed plans for businesses of different sizes. It also offers Internet Protocol (IP) layer protection, saving users from the hassles of installing multiple firewalls and antivirus programs on their devices. Based on such features and a long-standing trust in the brand Tata, the company finalised TTBS as its vendor for the ILL.

Business Challenges

Businesses that use cloud-based enterprise applications in their everyday workflows seek high-speed data services. In this case, the company needed to improve the productivity of its digital operations and strengthen Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity with an ILL.

The procurement team wanted a managed service with secure data traffic control and risk mitigation features. The existing broadband connection was unable to meet its growing requirements. Some of the expectations while switching to a new data service were:

  • High uptime assurance documented in an end-to-end Service-Level Agreement
  • Symmetric upload and download speed for ease of using Cloud applications including the ones linked to network video recorder (NVR) camera system
  • Cost-effective scalability and elasticity to meet bandwidth requirements of the business
  • The company also preferred to have real-time visibility into network performance

It had to ensure that latency, jitter and packet loss were always under control for optimum functioning of enterprise applications.

TTBS Solution

Our solution architects deployed Smart Internet service for the company’s 27 work locations across India. Leveraging the capabilities of this leased line and bundled Customer Premises Equipment (CPE), they built a managed wide area network for the company.

Smart Internet is optimised with a Domain Name System (DNS) update scanner on to offer real-time protection against cyber threats. The traffic flow for all the applications used by the company was therefore secure. The IT administrators could also use the web-based portal iManage to block websites that they considered unsafe or unsuitable in their work environment.

The deployment of TTBS Smart Internet enabled the company to address the challenges that it had been facing with the vanilla broadband system:

  • Smart Internet provided an SLA-backed network availability of 99.5% ensuring that users could always use their digital tools productively.
  • After the deployment of this new data service, the organisation now had 1:1 symmetric download and upload speeds to run enterprise applications smoothly and communicate online without undue jitter, latency and packet loss.
  • The management team could access footage from the NVR system securely from anywhere.

Our ILL service provided the advantages of elasticity (for quick increases in bandwidth to meet sudden usage spurts) – and also scalability (to address the requirements of more users and run more applications in long term)

With iManage, the IT team and other authorised managers could check the network performance whenever required. In case of any issue, they could raise a service ticket through the same platform. As per the SLA terms, TTBS continues to maintain the guaranteed uptime and the issue highlighted by the customer gets resolved promptly within the promised timelines.

TTBS Smart VPN provided the customer with seamless WAN connectivity and real-time network security. The customer gained a speedier data service, which is also cost-effective and readily scalable.
