Introduction

The organisation is a distinguished visa outsourcing and technology services specialist for individual travellers, governments, and diplomatic missions worldwide. It manages administrative and non-judgmental tasks related to visas, passports, identity management, and other citizen services for its clients.

This enterprise was a premium customer to a German tele communication company that solicited Tata Tele Business Services’ (TTBS) support to configure their MPLS- VPN connectivity. The MPLS solution was needed for secure voice transmission services across the organisation’s data centres based in Mumbai, Gurgaon, and Hyderabad.

Business Challenges

The customer required MPLS VPN along with more than 500 SIP channels to handle calls at its offices and forward them to other locations through a private network. The key requirements were:

  • Establishing reliable, secure, and private connectivity for transmission of voice and data packets
  • A single service provider to offer both the services–SIP channels to support the calls and MPLS to build the private network on which the calls would be routed
  • Providing the solutions as managed services and enabling costefficacy in the process

In deploying an upgraded network solution, it was also necessary to add redundancy capability so that agents could handle incoming calls despite network failure at any given location.

TTBS Solution

TTBS deployed a managed MPLSVPN solution at each location to connect customer’s three branch offices with their data centres based in Mumbai.

  • We configured SIP channels in two batches of 450 and 90 channels for the Mumbai office to handle the in bound calls using internet connectivity.
  • The TTBS team also provided SIP channel sat other locations to enable out bound calling
  • Scaling the channels for peak periods became easier as SIP technology relies on a virtual connection and does not need extra wiring to increase the call handling capacity.

We made the customer’s Amazon Web Services –hosted voice infrastructure more secure by using TCLIZO™–Tata Communication’s integrated cloud storage suite–to privatise the connectivity to this public platform. The network offered complete control over business data while always meeting the unpredictable storage needs of a growing organisation.
